Welcome to The Smugglers Rest

Bed & Breakfast in Mortehoe, Woolacombe, North Devon

Built in the 1800s, the Smugglers Rest nestles in the quaint coastal village of Mortehoe, just a short walk from one of Europe’s best beaches.

Having welcomed visitors for over 100 years, this historic building has recently undergone extensive renovations under the care of new owners Stacey and Will, transforming the old bar into the charming Miss Fea’s bistro.

The Smugglers Rest offers 8 spacious en suite rooms, boasting stunning countryside views, Will and Stacey have worked tirelessly to improve the building whilst being sympethic to its history, restoring original features and resinstalling victorian style features wherever possible.

Miss feas bistro has evolved from the opening 5 years ago into a relaxed bistro serving a locally sourced fresh menu 5 nights a week. The menu is well balanced to cater for a variety of dietary requirements with a focus on fresh seasonal sustainable produce. Bookings are strongly advised,  please click on the reserve a table at the top of this page to make a reservation. Being a relatively small space we're unable to cater for groups larger than seven at the moment.

Stacey and Will are proud to usher the Smugglers Rest into the future, and look forward to welcoming you soon.

What our customers are saying...

"Amazing Upgrade"

We booked over the phone and Will could not have been more helpful, we felt really welcome.

The lounge dining area is really smart, they have done a fabulous job of the re-vamp. Our bedroom was very spacious and spotlessly clean with a lovely comfy bed and a pretty little balcony.

Stacey was just as welcoming and the breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious. I have to say the two of them worked like galley slaves to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed.

The Smugglers is in the centre of Mortehoe with the tea shops and eating places right on the doorstep. We absolutely loved it and can’t wait to go back.
